Culture - A Tale of Two Cities: Where Sichuan's Ancient Soul Meets Its Vibrant Heart

Introduction: The charm of Sichuan lies in its cultural layers spanning thousands of years. For HOTEC, this exploration was a profound revelation: we need not only the wisdom and determination to trace back to history but also the vitality and warmth to root ourselves in the local community.

Part 1: Historical Culture — A Dialogue with Millennia of Wisdom

Our journey was an upstream voyage through the river of time.

    • Dujiangyan: An Eastern Model of Sustainable Wisdom

Standing at Dujiangyan, what we saw was not a cold engineering structure, but a living masterpiece of Eastern philosophy. The core of the water management maxim "Deepen the shoals, lower the weirs" proposed by Li Bing and his son is "Following the laws of nature and working with the flow". Instead of forcibly blocking the Min River, it cleverly guides the turbulent waters, transforming them into a source of irrigation that has turned the region into the "Land of Abundance". This 2,200-year-old practical lesson made us deeply reflect on the path to sustainability in modern business — true foresight lies in harmonious coexistence with the environment and market laws, creating enduring long-term value.

    • Sanxingdui: Civilization’s Imagination Forged in Mysterious Bronze

Later, Sanxingdui took us into a time and space beyond all imagination. The bronze masks with "protruding eyes that see a thousand miles", the sacred cosmic trees, and the golden scepters... These artifacts, with their weird and magnificent shapes, are completely different from the well-known Central Plains bronze civilization style. Like a supernova suddenly exploding in the starry sky of civilizations, it strongly reminds us that the origin of Chinese civilization is diverse, integrated, inclusive, and open. It challenges established views and inspires our team's boundless imagination about "the unknown" and "possibilities" — which is the wellspring of all innovation.

    • Wuhou Shrine: Loyalty and Strategy Embedded Among Green Bamboos

In Chengdu's Wuhou Shrine, we stepped into the magnificent era of the Three Kingdoms, shaded by lush ancient cypresses. This is not only a shrine commemorating the monarchs and ministers of the Shu Han Dynasty but also a cultural hall carrying the values of "loyalty, righteousness, courage, and wisdom". Wandering along the corridor flanked by red walls, we discussed Zhuge Liang's wisdom and his dedication to his cause until his last breath, and felt Guan Yu's loyalty, righteousness, benevolence, and courage. This period of history has added a profound and heavy touch to Sichuan's cultural character.

Part 2: Local Community Culture — The Art of Life Thriving on Every Street Corner

However, Sichuan's culture is by no means confined to grand halls and formal venues; it thrives more vividly in every street and alley. Our exploration of Chengdu’s teahouse culture took us from emerging internet-famous landmarks to century-old establishments, allowing us to experience its all-encompassing charm.

    • Daqi Teahouse: A Collision of Industrial Heritage and Cultural Vitality

We visited Daqi Teahouse, which was renovated from the workshop of an old lacquerware factory. The high-ceilinged space, exposed brick walls, and preserved industrial structures engage in a fascinating dialogue with the traditional bamboo chairs and wooden tables, creating a unique atmosphere that is both nostalgic and trendy. Though it has become a new internet-famous landmark, the teahouse still brims with the authentic vibe of local life, filled with Chengdu tea drinkers who came recommended by word of mouth. We sank into the bamboo chairs, savoring gaiwan cha (lid-covered bowl tea), while the stage in the center of the venue featured the stunning face-changing performance of Sichuan opera and the exquisite long-spouted teapot tea art show. Here, historical spaces, modern life, and intangible cultural heritage art blend perfectly, presenting us with a vivid example of the creative inheritance of traditional culture in the contemporary era.

    • People's Park: The Leisure and Down-to-Earth Vibe of a Century-Old Establishment

Later, we stepped into Heming Teahouse in People's Park. This century-old teahouse showed us the most classic and unhurried side of Chengdu's teahouse culture. There are no stage spotlights here; life itself is the protagonist. In our ears, we hear the vibrant singing of an elderly choir; before our eyes, we see Chengdu locals sitting around a table, chatting and laughing amid the crisp clink of mahjong tiles. This sense of leisure and down-to-earth warmth, unchanged for a century, allowed us to deeply understand Chengdu's life philosophy of "striking a balance between tension and relaxation" – it lets people recharge their energy in tranquility and spark inspiration through social interaction. This inspired our management philosophy: True vitality and innovation require space for creativity and moments for reflection. A team that is always on edge can never go far.

    • Sichuan Opera Face-Changing: Cultural Creativity in Rapid Transformation

We were captivated by the unique skill of Sichuan opera face-changing. As the performers wave their hands and flick their sleeves, their facial masks change in the blink of an eye – the speed is simply incredible. This is not just an ancient art that guards its secrets; it is also a dynamic and amazing form of cultural creativity. It tells us that tradition is not set in stone; it can be so vibrant, interactive, and visually striking. This is exactly what HOTEC pursues in today's fast-paced business world – while upholding our core values (our "mask"), we continue to surprise the market with an agile and innovative stance (our "face-changing").

HOTEC's Perspective: This in-depth cultural exploration made us deeply realize that the charm of Sichuan lies in the perfect unity of grandeur and delicacy. From the strategic wisdom of Dujiangyan and the subversive imagination of Sanxingdui to the human warmth in teahouses and the artistic agility of Face-Changing, we have seen a culture that can be both profound and light, both ancient and young. HOTEC is also committed to becoming such an enterprise: taking historical wisdom as its anchor and local community vitality as its sail, to move forward steadily and far in the tide of globalization.
